Sweet Everything
A collection of sweet things from my week
Welcome to Sweet Everything, friends! A brand new, weekly collection of recipes, what’s been inspiring me lately, updates on what’s happening in the kitchen, and new spots around Los Angeles. Essentially, a collection of sweet things and little happenings from my week. Let’s get into it!

Kumquat Pavlova Nests - ICYMI, I shared these little pavlovas topped with softly whipped cream, raspberries, candied kumquats, and edible flowers this week. Equal parts crunchy, marshmallowy, tart, and springy in the best way possible!
The ICY Negroni of my dreams - I forgot that I had left a bag of batched negronis in the freezer for over a week and somehow ended up creating the perfect cocktail. Tiny icy shards of what I’m assuming was frozen vermouth in every sip! Here’s a Negroni spritz version if you need a cocktail idea for tonight.
Brioche Salmon Roe Rounds - I finally finished testing these cuties, and I am thrilled with where they landed! Rich, fluffy, brioche topped with whipped cream cheese, salmon roe, and dill. Tiny salty & buttery bits of perfection!

Destroyer LA - Stopped by with my mom and got some of their blood orange spritzes, a beet rose salad, and one very aesthetically pleasing almond croissant. Big fan of this spot! The plating was thoughtful, and the food felt fresh and innovative.
Melrose Flea - Stopped by last Sunday, it’s such a lovely way to spend a Sunday morning. Calvin picked up a few plants while I spent most of my time eyeing vintage watches, glassware, and sunglasses that I absolutely do not need.
PSA: Los Angeles is currently living in its blue-purple era! Jacarandas, allium flowers, and plumbago (a new plant to me!) are blooming everywhere. My afternoon walks with Beignet have felt especially cinematic.

I had an Aesop hand balm discovery this week - my friend Katie had this scent in her bathroom, and I immediately purchased it. It’s herbal, bright, clean, and citrusy!
These candied yuzu peels are currently sitting in my kitchen waiting to be used!! I adore this brand - they’re known for their 100% yuzu juice, a citrus that I am truly obsessed with. Some late spring/early summer recipes are percolating!
Beignet had a playdate with Mia, another golden girl who lives across the street from us! We brought a bunch of toys up to our rooftop for them to play with… Beignet’s corn and massive tennis ball were two big hits. Another perk: the corn doubles as a hilarious pillow (as seen above).

I can feel that my audiobook season is returning! I redownloaded Libby (my LA library app) last night and immediately started building a queue. Famesick by Lena Dunham is at the very top, along with reading something by Kristin Hannah after months of recommendations from friends.
Survivor season 50 somehow already ended, and once again, we begin the long wait for another season. TRAGIC! Jeff accidentally spoiling part of the finale during their first live reunion in years was genuinely chaotic television. I live for it.
There’s been a lot of fascinating discussions happening in the food/creator world this week after a particularly polarizing post made the rounds. It sparked so many interesting conversations about modern food media, creativity, labor, visibility, and what audiences actually expect from creators now. I definitely have more thoughts brewing here, so more to come! For now, I read and watched a phenomenal perspective shared by Carmen in the Garden - highly recommend watching/reading if it’s of interest to you!
Hope you all found a little sweetness in your week - talk soon!
XO Emily
